José Guilherme Castro

Founding Partner

José Guilherme Castro

José Guilherme is a founding partner of Castro & Chagas Advogados Associados. His professional path spans law, management and business—experiences that have shaped a legal practice focused on understanding complex contexts, negotiation and balancing different interests.

He earned his law degree from PUC Minas in 2005 and is currently pursuing further studies in climate litigation and a postgraduate program in Health Law, expanding his work into areas that address contemporary legal challenges.

During his legal practice, he has developed particular experience in large-scale litigation with an international dimension. In recent years, he has worked on disputes relating to socio-environmental disasters, connecting Brazilian and foreign legal teams, partner firms, clients and other stakeholders.

In this work, he has held leadership, coordination and institutional liaison roles, addressing highly complex legal, strategic and operational issues.

This experience has given him a practical understanding of how businesses operate and strengthened skills he brings to legal practice: negotiation, organization, analysis of competing interests and the development of lasting relationships of trust.
